Supporting the natural by being inspired by nature, İzocam drew attention to the fact that wastes are an important part of the economy as well as the environment on the “18 March World Recycling Day”. İzocam, which uses up to 80% recycled materials termed as "seventh natural resource" in its production, takes its contribution to recycling to the next level with its facilities holding the “Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate” and social responsibility activities.
Our world now defines recyclables as the “seventh natural resource”. Recyclable wastes are considered the seventh natural resource after air, water, coal, oil, natural gas and minerals. The Global Recycling Foundation declared March 18 as the “World Recycling Day” in order to draw attention to the valuable wastes considered the “seventh natural resource” in the world yet go to waste every day. This special day has started to be celebrated as of 2019.
İzocam, which has been leading the insulation industry in Turkey for 58 years, draws attention to the fact that wastes are an important part of the economy as well as the environment on the “18 March World Recycling Day”. İzocam, which uses up to 80% recycled materials termed as the "seventh natural resource" in its production, serves sustainability with its products
made of domestic raw materials and at least 30% recycled content, while offering a healthy life to all living things and nature. İzocam, which supports the natural by being inspired by nature, takes its contributions to recycling and waste management to the next level with its environmentally friendly facilities that have the "Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate" and social responsibility activities in addition to its products.
Emphasizing that they attach importance to producing products that contain recycled materials, do not harm human health and are proven to be environmentally friendly, even tough not obligated by the laws in our country, General Director of İzocam Mr. Murat Savcı said, İzocam glass wool and stone wool insulation products, which contain environmentally friendly materials, are among the best-known and most reliable products in the world. İzocam uses sand, basalt, natural minerals and recycled glass in 80 percent of its production. Production residues are also reused in the production of new products. In addition, İzocam is the first company in the insulation sector to have the EUCEB (EUropean CErtification Board for mineral wool products) certificate, which proves that the fibers that penetrate the body through the skin and respiration are removed harmlessly from the body. Thanks to the recycled materials used in their production, İzocam Stone Wool and Glass Wool products allow the buildings where they are used to obtain green building certificates such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) - BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) and our National Green Certificate System, YeS-TR (Republic of Turkey Green Certificate System).”
All İzocam facilities are equipped with “Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate”
Explaining that they were deemed worthy of receiving the Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate in all their facilities by reflecting their attitudes in waste management to their facilities, İzocam General Director Murat Savcı has said: “This Certificate, which was first obtained by our Tarsus Facility in July 2021, has been awarded to all our facilities as of 2022. The Certificate, which is issued by the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Climate Change, indicates that the facility has completed a series of processes that cover the prevention of waste at a basic level, the more efficient use of resources, the prevention or minimization of waste generation by reviewing the causes of waste generation, and the collection and recycling of waste separately at the source in the event of waste generation”.
Recycling is also at the center of İzocam's social responsibility activities!
Stating that as İzocam, they put the environment, waste management and recycling at the center in their social responsibility projects as well as their products and facilities, Mr. Murat Savcı has said: “As İzocam, we aim to make the world a better home with our motto of “İzocam stands behind sustainable tomorrows”. In order to leave blue coasts and a living sea to future generations, we need to say 'stop' to marine pollution originating from land wastes. As İzocam, we have carried out a project in cooperation with DenizTemiz Derneği (Clean Sea Association)/Turmepa (Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association) and Aktif Balık Adamlar Spor Klubü Derneği (Active Aquanauts Sports Club Association) in recent months to draw attention to this important issue. Within the scope of our coastal and seabed cleaning event held on the Bebek coast of Istanbul, we formed a volunteer team from our colleagues. Our team, which managed to collect 11 kilograms of paper, plastic, metal, glass and non-recyclable wastes in just 30 minutes, completed the coastal and seabed cleaning with a 3-hour cooperation. A total of 35 kilograms of wastes were removed from the sea and transferred to recycling facilities. Our volunteer team, which came together with the aim of making the world a better home, is preparing to continue its works with different activities in the coming days.”
