Izocam drew attention to its investments in the environment and human health on June 5, World Environment Day.
World Environment Day has been celebrated on 5 June every year since the United Nations Environment Conference held in Stockholm, Sweden in 1972, to raise awareness and take action around the world on environmental protection. Leading the insulation sector with its products and environmental modernization projects, as in many areas, Izocam drew attention to the investments it has made to protect the environment and human health on this special day.
Izocam not only takes the environment and people into consideration with the products it produces, but also modernizes its plants in a way that is compatible with environmental conditions. Speaking about the latest chimney filter investment they made at the Tarsus facility in order to ensure that the facilities operate with minimum environmental impact, Izocam General Director Murat Savcı said; “Thanks to our new filter investment, we aim to reduce all emissions well below the standards. Thanks to this large-scale, environmentally friendly investment, we will achieve world-class air emission values. This important project is Izocam's contribution to a sustainable world.” Referring to the zero carbon target of Saint-Gobain by 2030, one of the company partners, Savcı said, “Saint-Gobain made a commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050. As Izocam, we have created our road maps for 2025 and 2030 within the framework of this vision. We have taken over the investment plans that will reduce direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by at least 33% by 2030.”
Izocam included its contributions to the environment in its new packaging
Another important work of Izocam that contributed to the environment was the packaging renewal project. Izocam, which started to renew its packaging in the mineral wool product group in the past, primarily renewed its Izocam Glasswool packaging in a way to emphasize its contribution to the global targets set by the United Nations for Sustainable Development. In April this year, Izocam Stonewool packages were renewed to express the product's care for human health and the environment. By using less paint in the new semi-transparent white packaging, the packaging sizes and the amount of packaging used were rearranged. In this way, the amount of chemical waste was reduced and an environmentally friendly packaging was obtained.
Izocam stands behind the healthy and environmentally friendly insulation
In these days when we remember that health is important for all living creatures, Murat Savcı, who also emphasizes the use of insulation products that protect the health of all living things, especially human beings, and nature, stated that although the laws in our country do not require it, they take care to produce products that use recycled materials and that are proven not to harm human health. Underlining that they have been leading the sector with their continuous investments in Izocam Stonewool for 13 years and in Izocam Glasswool products for EUCEB certification for 12 years, Savcı said, “Izocam brand mineral wools prove with international standards that they are products that do not harm human health with their EUCEB certificate. With the EUCEB certificate, which proves that the fibers that penetrate the body through the skin and respiration are removed from the body by dissolving, an independent institution has documented that Izocam Stonewool and Izocam Glasswool products are not carcinogenic. Products with EUCEB certificate are constantly tested and it is guaranteed that the fibers are harmless during the certificate period.
On the other hand, Izocam continues its efforts to encourage XPS and EPS polystyrene-based products not to contain HBCD, which is defined as a permanent organic pollutant. The use of HBCD in these products has been banned in our country as of November 2019. Therefore, when purchasing XPS and EPS products, it should be noted that they are 'HBCD Free' (does not contain HBCD). Izocam brand XPS and EPS products are produced within the framework specified by the laws in a way that will not harm the environment and human health.
