İzocam, which has been leading the insulation industry for 57 years with its healthy, safe and economical products, drew attention to the importance of insulation for energy savings on November 8th, World Urbanism Day. Emphasizing that heating in non-insulated buildings has now become a luxury, İzocam called on those who would like to make a profit from this winter season by taking advantage of the state-supported insulation loan, to invest in insulation!
Stating that the advantageous state-supported Insulation Loan is a very important opportunity for building owners in need of insulation, İzocam General Director Mr. Murat Savcı said: “The Insulation Loan, which was announced by our President and emerged under the leadership of our Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, with the contributions of IZODER (Heat, Water, Sound and Fire Insulators Association), offers our citizens who would like to pay lower bills to heat their homes in winter and cool them in summer, a 60-month term loan of up to 50 thousand TL featuring an interest rate of 0.99 percent. It is estimated that a total of 4.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be saved at the end of 5 years provided that 300 thousand households (flats) are insulated each year with the Insulation Loan. The monetary equivalent of this savings exceeds 60 billion TL.”
“Insulation is a system that pays for itself”
Emphasizing that the cost of insulation is not a luxury expense, but an essential investment to achieve savings and comfort, İzocam General Director Mr. Murat Savcı stated that application of the right insulation material, at the right thickness and using the right method of application will provide the best return and the highest comfort throughout the life of the building. Noting that a building insulated in accordance with the regulations can lead to saving of more than 60% of energy compared to an uninsulated building, Mr. Savcı made the following statements:
“80% of the energy consumed in buildings is consumed for heating and cooling purposes. The most common problem encountered in residences is 'not being able to heat the residence due to lack of insulation'. According to the Income and Living Conditions survey, the results of which were announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), 39.3 percent of the population experience heating problems in their houses due to the lack of insulation. On the other hand, 36.9 percent of the population experience problems such as leaky roofs, damp walls, rotten window frames, etc. While, in fact, thermal insulation pays for itself in a short time, allowing you to both warm up better and save on your energy bills.
On the other hand, the most important item, which has a significant share of up to 20-25 percent among all imports, in Turkey's current account deficit is energy imports. As Turkey, we buy the energy we use from abroad by paying billions of dollars. 40% of the energy we consume is used in buildings, whereas approximately 30% is used in the industry, and the rest is used in areas such as transportation and agriculture. Hence, we have got a lot of ground to cover in terms of savings in energy consumption, which we are so much dependent on foreign sources.
Despite all recent improvements in this field, still only 20% of the building stock in Turkey at best have been insulated in accordance with the TS 825 “Thermal Insulation Requirements for Buildings” standard. Therefore, we see it as a very valuable step to start offering advantageous Insulation Loans to our people under the leadership of our state.
It should not be forgotten that insulation is a system that pays for itself. In addition to contributing to the national and household economy, the reduction of harmful gas emissions and its contribution to the environment cannot be ignored. Therefore, we always have to bear in mind that insulation is always a necessity.”
