The 10th International Quality in Construction Summit, the most important event of the Turkish construction materials industry, was held on November 3rd, 2022, at Hilton Istanbul Maslak Hotel. Turkey's world-famous insulation brand İzocam became the silver sponsor of the Summit which was held with the theme of “Sustainable Future” this year by IMSAD (Association of Turkish Building Materials Producers), of which it is a member!
The "International Quality in Construction Summit", which has been organized by IMSAD, the umbrella organization of building materials manufacturers, since 2009 as one of the best examples of sustainability events and is considered one of the biggest events of the sector, took place with the aim of shaping the building materials industry, which constitutes an important link of sustainable development, with a new understanding of industry and trade, within the framework of circular economy, responsible production and consumption in construction, sustainable and smart cities, smart investments, innovative industry, sustainable energy management, creative and new ideas, and technological innovations.
Evaluating the Summit to which they contributed as a silver sponsor, İzocam General Director Mr. Murat Savcı said: “As İzocam, we consider that the 'International Quality in Construction Summit', of which we were a part of and which was organized under the theme of 'Sustainable Future' this year, is of strategic importance for the future of our industry and our country. We believe that this organization hosted by IMSAD will contribute to the establishment of environmentally friendly, innovative production and sustainability awareness in our sector.”
İzocam is working towards its goal of 'a good future for humanity and the world'!
Mr. Murat Savcı reminded that 57 years ago, when the story of İzocam began, they defined their purpose of existence as developing environmentally friendly and sustainable insulation solutions that provide energy savings and comfort, without harming natural resources, taking into account the safety of life and property. Mr. Savcı said: “We still maintain our position as a company that works with the motivation of efficient use of resources, climate change, construction of sustainable structures, energy savings, protecting the environment and improving the quality of life. We carry out actvities to raise awareness of our society on these issues, and we fulfill our duty towards both society and our industry by developing environmentally friendly products, implementing energy management systems in our facilities and environmental product declarations.”
Noting that İzocam aims to become carbon neutral by 2050, Mr. Savcı emphasized that they address many projects that will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, limiting water consumption and generation of waste water, adapting alternative raw material sources to production processes, and the circular economy, as detailed programs in order to adapt to the sustainability targets of 2030 and 2050. Stating that as İzocam, they have started to put their investment plans into operation as of 2021, aiming to reduce their direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by at least 33% until 2030, Mr. Savcı said: “We replaced the lighting fittings in all our facilities with environmentally friendly practices. We have implemented recycling and efficiency projects by installing energy monitoring systems in our Stone wool and Glass wool production facilities. We have equipped all our facilities with the Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate based on the efforts we put in throughout the year. We started our packaging renewal activities with the aim of 'a good future for humanity and the world', and, in this context, we redesigned the packaging of İzocam Glass wool, İzocam stone wool and İzocam Foamboard in a way that also expresses sensitivity to human health and the environment. Since the beginning of this year, we have started to sail the seas in cooperation with Sailmaster by establishing the İzocam Sailing Team in order to draw attention to sustainability, the fight against global climate change and the right to a good life. Our environmentalist activities that reduce carbon emissions and prioritize respect for human health and nature will increasingly continue in the coming years.”
Underlining that İzocam mineral wools, which contain environmentally friendly materials, are among the best-known and most reliable insulation products in the world, Mr. Savcı said: “Up to 80% of the raw materials used in our production consist of recycled materials and glass cullet. Production residues can also be reused in the manufacture of products. As İzocam, we serve sustainability with our products with local and recycled content, while offering a healthy life to all living things and nature with the content of our products. İzocam is the first company in the insulation sector to obtain the EUCEB (European Certification Board for Mineral Wool Products) certificate, which proves that the fibers that penetrate the body through the skin and respiration are removed harmlessly from the body. Thanks to the recycled materials used in the production of İzocam branded mineral wools, the buildings where they are used can obtain green building certificates such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) – BREAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology). All İzocam branded XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) and EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) products, which are 'HBCD (hexabromocyclododecane) Free' (does not contain HBCD), are produced within the framework specified by the laws, in a way that will not harm the environment and human health.
İzocam General Director Mr. Savcı added that they continue to do their part in achieving 8 important goals among the 17 global goals of the United Nations (UN), i.e., ‘Good Health and Well-being’, ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’, ‘Decent Work and Economic Growth’, ‘Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure’, ‘Partnerships for the Goals’, ‘Climate Action’, ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’, ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’, by producing products that are harmless to human health, save energy and contribute to sustainability.
